The Legislation
A little known fact is that all wild bird species (including their nests and eggs) are indeed offered varying levels of protection in the UK under the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 which has legislative guide lines as to how these species can be treated. All of our bird control measures comply with the UK governing body (Natural England) and are carried out within the terms dictated by the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 under the General Licence.
Depending on the species and time of the year, nuisance pest birds can be dealt with for the following reasons under the current General Licence:
- To conserve wild birds
- To preserve public health and /or safety
- To preserve air safety
- To prevent serious damage or spread of disease
