This will prevent the birds from coming into such an environment. This is a cost-effective method and it’s harmful. Apart from mirrors, you can use metallic wrapping paper, old CDs, tin foil, and aluminium cans.
  2. Repellant Sprays: There are different repellant sprays you can make locally for controlling pesky birds. You can make a repellant made of green chilli or crush dried red peppers and vinegar into a mixture with water. You can heat the mixture for a few hours for infusion or put it in a clear glass and place it in the sun for natural infusion. When it is done, you’ve made a repellant. Put it in a plant mister and spray your gardens or the birds’ landing area.
  3. Bird Spikes: Spikes are generally long, thin sharp-pointed implements which can be wood or metal. Bird spikes serve as a deterrent for birds because of the sharp-pointed edge which they assume might be harmful to them. The bird spikes are needlelike rods that are made of plastic can or metals like tin. The spikes are put in a speck of dirt or overhang, it can also be made by hammering nails into boards.
  4. Predators: An object in the shape of the predators can be placed in an area frequented by these birds to deter them. They will be scared to land or nest in that area thinking it’s a living thing. But you should try to change the position because the bird might get used to it and will eventually ignore the objects.
  5. § Garden Balls: Round large colourful balls can be used to deter birds by putting them in your garden or property. It can also be hung in trees or fence posts.

Physical deterrents: Bird spikes discussed earlier under home remedies. Electrified track systems, Electrified wire and non-electrified wire systems, bird netting or anti-bird netting, mechanical spiders, slope barriers, chemical foggers etc. The physical methods can be harmful while some are not. The bird spikes can impale the birds, and electrified wire systems shock the birds, while the netting methods and non-electrified wire systems will block the birds.

Chemical deterrents: Chemicals repellants like PGINX is an EPA-approved and registered bird repellent which uses capsaicin and mineral oil to stop the birds from landing or roosting on your property or garden. The repellant is a transparent sticky gel applied on beams, window sills, parapets, ledges and other structural surfaces.
